- A start-up printing services company has only four employees currently, but plans to grow to 25 by the end of the year. McCabe Consultants helped them establish the 'infrastructure' to recruit, train, and manage the new team in a proactive way. We developed policies, created an employee handbook, defined roles, developed job descriptions, and defined a hiring process with all of the supporting documentation. We also coached them through an employee performance issue that yielded positive results. With young companies, we work to establish a good HR management foundation while maintaining the necessary flexibility to get the job done quickly. - A mid-sized company received a complaint of possible inappropriate behavior of one of their managers. We performed the investigation, provided documentation for the organization and made recommendations for follow-up actions that help to place the company in a strong position to minimize their legal risk. We were able to quickly and efficiently address the situation while maintaining an outside, objective perspective. - A new Executive Director at a non profit organization was struggling with low employee morale, several employee relations issues, and implementation of a ‘new' company culture. We facilitated several focus groups on organizational culture, compared the old with the new, and developed group strategies that managers could use for building and sustaining the important aspects of the new culture. We also provided some coaching on leadership in a changing environment that helped the leaders to better support their employees' needs. Upon review and analysis of our system the ED has informed us that communication has improved and productivity in servicing their client base has increased by 30% which has allowed them to receive an additional $100,000 in government funding.
- A publishing company had grown substantially within the past several years, large enough to need a full blown human resources function. They had some basic HR tools in place (such as a handbook) but there was little consistency in HR practice among the various branch operations. McCabe Consultants completed an assessment of their current HR tools and practices, identified what was working well and what needed to be implemented or improved.
